Distilling Core Values from Moments of Feeling Most Happiness, Pride, Fulfillment and Satisfaction…
I’m having a value clarification day today.
Why? I believe that once all you do is aligned with what makes you most happy; you come across as someone living with integrity, confident in doing the right thing – and consequently you’ll have a greater impact. This leads to greater satisfaction in life and success in career/business.
For a marketer, this is an important step, as we want to not only be genuine but also effective in connecting the right kind of people with the right kind of offers.
I found this article with a video that gave me some new insight into today’s task of figuring out the values…
These are the steps the article suggests:
Step 1: Identify the times when you were happiest
Step 2: Identify the times when you were most proud
Step 3: Identify the times when you were most fulfilled and satisfied
Step 4: Determine your top values, based on your experiences of happiness, pride, and fulfillment
Step 5: Prioritize your top values
Once you have your top values that were present when you were experiencing most happiness, pride and fulfillment, you can deliberately take more actions and create more life experiences that bring you most amount of satisfaction.
Like mentioned in a previous blog posts, there are many ways to do this. Core values are fairly stable once you find them out – except that they may change over time as live changes – and also in different context / role they may differ. This is just one more slightly different angle that can help clarify personal values that permeate – or should permeate one’s life and actions.
